Artist Statement for CopperTreeJewelry
CopperTreeJewlery is about transformation, from the everyday to the sublime. We believe in the power each of us has to change how we see life. We believe in the beauty of each moment in which we connect to the world around us.
Each piece of jewelry that we build is designed and constructed according to our philosophy of "Reclaim, Recycle, and Repurpose;" each piece involves found and discarded objects, common materials used in uncommon ways, everyday materials reclaimed, recycled, and repurposed from their original intent.
Pieces at the 2008 Spring Thing show were created from a paper shredder, an abandoned 1950's Zenith television found in Rhode Island, a broken dishwasher from Connecticut, stainless steel hardware, copper wiring from residential and commercial electrical projects in Texas and Massachusetts, and even pieces of housing gutters, among other elements.
We hope you think differently about your surroundings after seeing our work. We hope you love the way you feel when you wear it. We hope you take a second to see the beauty you live in.
Most of all, we hope you enjoy.
Sincerely, the artists and builders at CopperTreeJewelry.
